This is my family’s favorite recipe and we love pairing it with baked chicken, pork chops, or steak. I personally love it with mashed potatoes or even by itself! I found the original recipe online years ago so I can’t find it anymore but I tweaked it a little bit based on what ingredients I had at that time. We stuck to the tweaked version since we loved it so much. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
- 2 Tbsp. Butter
- 1 small-medium onion/shallots
- 1.5-2 Cups of mushrooms sliced thinly
- Salt and Pepper
- 1⁄4 Cup All purpose flour
- 1⁄4 Cup White wine
- 2 Cups beef broth
- 1⁄4 Cup Table cream
Instructions:
- Heat butter on a large pan
- Saute shallots/onions
- Add mushrooms and saute until cooked
- Season with salt and pepper
- Sprinkle with All Purpose Flour and stir to coat mushrooms until lightly toasted; stir occasionally
- Add white wine and red wine
- Scrape brown bits on the bottom of the pan. Cook until wine is reduced.
- Gradually add beef broth and stir occasionally; let boil until it thickens
- Add table cream and adjust salt and pepper as needed
