Our favorite homemade mushroom gravy recipe

This is my family’s favorite recipe and we love pairing it with baked chicken, pork chops, or steak. I personally love it with mashed potatoes or even by itself! I found the original recipe online years ago so I can’t find it anymore but I tweaked it a little bit based on what ingredients I had at that time. We stuck to the tweaked version since we loved it so much. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp. Butter
  • 1 small-medium onion/shallots
  • 1.5-2 Cups of mushrooms sliced thinly
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 1⁄4 Cup All purpose flour
  • 1⁄4 Cup White wine
  • 2 Cups beef broth
  • 1⁄4 Cup Table cream

Instructions:

  1. Heat butter on a large pan
  2. Saute shallots/onions
  3. Add mushrooms and saute until cooked
  4. Season with salt and pepper
  5. Sprinkle with All Purpose Flour and stir to coat mushrooms until lightly toasted; stir occasionally
  6. Add white wine and red wine
  7. Scrape brown bits on the bottom of the pan. Cook until wine is reduced.
  8. Gradually add beef broth and stir occasionally; let boil until it thickens
  9. Add table cream and adjust salt and pepper as needed
