My 5 favorite outerwear on rotation this winter

Winter hasn’t been too bad and on days when it’s not frigid (I’m talking 30s or above) these have been my go to jackets/coats. I’ve shared most of them numerous times since as you know, my pieces tend to stick to the classic, neutral and flexible side and they often go with any outfit. You can click on the photo above to shop directly or on the links provided in each item.

  • The Moncler Chouelle velvet trimmed down jacket: This one was a gift from Lee maybe 2 winters ago so it’s old and the all black one is sold out. I did find other colors that are still in stock and I’ve link them here. Another option I found was Abercrombie’s vegan leather jacket (currently on sale). Although entirely different in material, when I tried this on in store, I actually didn’t get it because of the strong similarity in structure and in style with the black Moncler so I would say this is a great alternative and in a much lesser price point! For sizing, both the Moncler and Abercrombie options run true to size. I wear an XS/0 and still have room for a thicker sweater.
  • My sherpa bomber jacket (currently on sale): This is the old version they came out with 2 winters ago and they brought it back this season. The only difference is the belt/buckle by the neckline and the leather lining by the zipper but honestly, I can hardly tell. I love how warm this sherpa is and among all my jackets this is potentially the most overused one. It’s the easiest to grab, easy to wash, and matches most if not all of my outfits. Most importantly it keeps me warm enough but not miserably warm in case it’s not too cold out. It also comes in black and runs true to size.
  • J.Crew’s cocoon coat (currently on sale): I honestly don’t think I share this enough but really, it’s such a good basic to have. It’s perfect when you’re dressed up in nice heels/boots but can also match really well when you’re dressed down in sneakers or flats. If I had to keep one black coat, it would be this. I wear the XS (true to my size) but it gives me more room for a thicker sweater inside. I would size down if you want a more structured fit.
  • Teddy Coat: my favorite this season! I’ve shared this multiple times because I really do love it so much. It’s super comfy and feels like I’m snuggled up in my blanket while I’m out. I think this style is not going anywhere for a while at least so it would be worth an investment especially that it’s on sale since you can for sure use it again next winter. Runs true to size with room for a thicker sweater inside.
  • J.Crew’s mock neck coat: this one is very similar to #3 with the main difference being the zipper showing and not. This mock neck coat shows the gold zipper as an accent while #3’s zipper is hidden when it’s zipped up. This runs true to size although for this, I sized down 1 size smaller for a structured fit which now doesn’t give me much room for a thick sweater. So stick to your size if you want a regular fit with enough room for layers.
