Current Skin and Beauty Obsessions

Been tied up with lots of work and family events the past few weeks so it’s been a while since my last post…but! I’ve been all about skincare lately so I’ve been meaning to share my latest favorites here. As some of you know, I turned 34 last December and as many of you can probably relate, this pandemic has awaken a lot of realizations for me. One of them is the fact that I’m not getting any younger which means good health and good skin will in no time no longer be the default thanks to good genes. In short, it’s time to put in some effort before it’s too late. Below are some products I’ve been loving in an effort to keep my skin looking young, clean and free from too much chemicals and harsh ingredients. You can click on the photo below or on each item on the list to shop directly.

1. Necessaire Hand Cream

In case you haven’t noticed, our hands are one of the key tell tale signs of aging. And very similar to the neck, it’s not the easiest to “restore” with creams, botox and what not. I’ve finally decided to commit to frequently hydrating my hands and the only way I could do this is if I find a product that is not sticky/uncomfortable because that’s exactly why I can’t stand hand creams. I’ve been using Necessaire’s Hand Cream for a few weeks now and I have to say I’m OBSESSED. It’s fragrance free, it’s not sticky, and it gives really long lasting hydration. I love using it anytime right after I wash my hands throughout the day, right before bed time as part of my skin care routine, and when I wake up just before my day starts. My hands have never felt so smooth and healthy.

2. The Inkey List Retinol

I’ve never really followed a strict skin care routine aside from my daily moisturized with spf. But again, I’m not getting any younger and felt like it’s time to step up my game before it’s too late. I did some research and apparently, retinol is one of the best-known skin care ingredient. It helps remove fine lines and prevent before they even show up! I don’t like using too many products but if I had to pick one product I would add, it should be retinol. I picked one from The Inkey List because of the amazing reviews, it straight forward tells you what it’s for and how to use it, and mostly because it uses clean ingredients. Budget friendly too! I’m very intrigued by this brand and will most likely try their other stuff soon.

3. Merit Flush Balm

I’ve shared this brand before but it’s my first time using their flush balm! I love Merit because it uses clean ingredients and if I’m trying to take good care of my skin, it only makes sense to avoid all the unnecessary harsh makeup chemicals. This product specifies for cheek use but I use it on my lips too. It’s been my everyday cheek and lip tint these days and I love the natural look it gives. I’m using the shade Cheeky.

4. Merit Complexion Stick

This one I’ve shared countless of times but thought it makes sense to share it again on this post. As I mentioned above, Merit uses clean ingredients and aside from that, this is basically a hybrid of concealer + foundation which is perfect for someone like me who only really uses it on certain spots like my undereyes and t zones instead of the entire face. I’m using the shade Linen.
